Mark Zukerberg finds Meta’s WhatsApp to be more secure than Apple’s iMessage

In a recent Instagram post, Facebook’s owner said that WhatsApp is “Far more secure and private” than iMessage. However, knowing Facebook’s whole system working around advertising and tracking and their recent dispute against Apple’s “Apple tracking privacy”, the claim sounds unstable.

WhatsApp is far more private and secure than iMessage, with end-to-end encryption that works across both iPhones and Android, including group chats. With WhatsApp, you can also set all new chats to disappear with the tap of a button. And last year, we introduced end-to-end encrypted backups too. All of which iMessage still doesn’t have.

The post includes a new york billboard showing Meta’s WhatsApp to be more secure than SMS and iMessage.

In 2021, Facebook had a wild fight over Apple’s decision that made it hard for app makers to track iPad and iPhone users’ websites and apps. The biggest social network said that Apple was hurting small businesses that rely on advertising to attract new customers. The social media giant even said that Apple’s move was one of the reasons behind Facebook’s downfall in the last quarter.
