At this point, it’s no news that all sorts of fraudulent platforms fill the internet. This is further facilitated by the fact that we live in a post-truth era where fake news frequently masquerades as the news.

Many of these scam platforms try to hide their true nature by cloaking their schemes in captivating titles like gifting schemes, multi-level marketing, payment system, etc.

This is exactly what distinguishes moonbitcoin live from the rest. The platform never hides its true nature. It goes right ahead and tells you in its tagline: Double your bitcoin in just 24 hours. Anyone with a half-decent brain knows that this is code word for “This is a scam”. Or why should it make sense for anyone to think in 2020, in the face of Covid-19 and a global economic crash, you can double your money for doing nothing?

For me it didn’t matter what bitcoin mining claims moonbitcoin.live makes afterward, that tagline said it all. But just for curiosity sake, I decided to step into the hornet’s nest to see the red flags for myself. And there are a lot of red flags. See if you can keep up.

But first, let’s see how moonbitcoin works

If the goal is to defraud you, they shouldn’t make you go through so many needless procedures: register an account, confirm your identity, etc. Don’t worry you don’t need to do any of these to get scammed by moonbitcoin live as they make the process so easy. No membership required, no logging in. Nothing. Just paste your bitcoin address in the box as shown below. This will take you to a second page where your entry is confirmed and the àddress to deposit at least 0.01 BTC. Invest less than that, and the platform threatens you’ll lose your fund. What an irony! And if you’re wondering why it is, I’ll spell it out. It means you lose your funds anyway. Moonbitcoin also promises a 50% bonus on deposits above 0.02 BTC. You also get a 20% commission when your referrals make a deposit. Sweet!

Moonbitcoin’s many red flags

  • Moonbitcoin lures users by using FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) tactics to activate your greed. The last transactions section in the platform shows you bitcoin addresses of users who have deposited funds to the platform. Yes, they are real addresses but this is no proof of authenticity. Blockchain’s pseudo-anonymity means that anyone could see and easily scrape wallet addresses off it. Or do you genuinely imagine that someone has 3 BTC (see screenshot) lying around to invest in a money doubling scheme? The platform also uses dubious numbers. For example, it claims to have paid out over 3834 BTC (over $36 million USD)  to users

  • Fake Contact us details

Every line of the above screenshot taken from moonbitcoin live platform is false. They never respond to emails once payment is made. The company also uses a fake certificate. The company number: 10518084 belongs to a completely different company called Crypto Zero Ltd. Even if it was genuine (it isn’t) certificates like the one shown below are generic licenses that could be obtained for a few $$ and it’s favored by many potentially fraudulent companies for obvious reasons.

And take the address given with a pinch of salt too. Manchester Arndale is the largest shopping center in the U.K. Home to hundreds of retailers. Its obvious moonbitcoin is only using this address to look credible. It is not physically located there.

  • Fake reviews: Why stop at just falsifying Company numbers and addresses? Moonbitcoin live also bought hundreds of fake 5-star reviews on trust pilot websites which is where most users verify whether a new platform is a scam or not by reading firsthand experiences of other users. The 5-star reviews, in this case, are just a distraction. You’ll get more insight into this scam by reading the 1-star reviews.

  • The usual red flags: These are the signs that most scam platforms have in common and moonbitcoin live has it in abundance.
  • Use of suspicious languages like ” bitcoin doubler”, “100% secure”, ” instant payout after 24 hours” is enough to make anyone think twice and think again before joining this platform.
  • Name of moonbitcoin founder is not revealed
  • Renews domain name of only one year. Moonbitcoin. Live was registered on 2019-09-08 and will expire on 2020-09-08 unless renewed. Most Ponzi schemes renew for one year until they eventually crash.
  •  Dubious money source. No investment is being carried out by this platform

Conclusion

Ponzi schemes pay old members with new users’ money. I don’t think the word ‘Ponzi’ describes this platform. Moonbitcoin live platform is a boldfaced scam. IdeasDome’s independent investigation reveals that this platform pays no one.
